Background
A company, which provides HR outsourcing services, was about to revamp the page design of its web-based HR system. A design agency was awarded the revamp project. The stakeholders decided to conduct an expert review of the existing design, so as to avoid the usability issues and apply the design recommendations in the revamp.
Summary of work
- Evaluated seven sections of the human resource system, including employee record update, leave application and tax form generation, etc.
- Uncovered over 40 usability issues (75% were major issues) in the areas of layout, form design, workflow, functionality, navigation, help and feedback.
- Provided design recommendations for each issue, and included wireframe sketches when applicable.
- Walked through the review with the designer.
