Background
An eLearning company planned to design an eLearning website. The website aimed for secondary school students to self-learn materials which the government syllabus required. The company wanted its personnel to learn about usability before designing the eLearning website.
Workshop highlights
- Introduction to usability, including its definition, benefits, everyday examples and the user-centered design (UCD) process
- Introduction to common usability heuristics using the client’s product design as examples
- Introduction to expert review, including benefits, applications and review structure
- Participants’ exercise: Take a related product as a case study. Find its usability issues and make recommendations by applying the heuristics.
- Introduction to usability testing, including benefits, applications, process, user profile, recruitment, scenario design, moderation and analysis
- Participants’ exercise: Design a short usability test scenario, moderate the session and analyze the observation.
